Once Labor Day is over the beer lovers of Maine are excited for all of the upcoming Oktoberfest events around the state, and there are many of them.

Oktoberfest has it’s origins in Germany. It’s the largest Volksfest (beer festival) in the world held in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. More than six million people from around the world are in attendance and it runs from mid September to first Sunday in October. For many people Oktoberfest is a celebration of the Marzen beer style. The Marzen beer is a medium-bodied German-style amber lager. It’s a malt forward beer that can range from 5.8% – 6.3% ABV (according to BJCP). I love Marzen’s and personally can’t wait for September so I can drink them.
